Joomla RSForm Not Submitting

Well I have spent hours trying to troubleshoot a problem. Now that I have identified the issue I'm feeling pretty stupid. But I still want to jot it down...

I have a complex payment form using RSForm Pro. It's a cool form tool for Joomla that makes form building easy, while still allowing complex modifications.

The problem is that the form will not submit. I click the submit button and the form acts like it's trying to process, but then it just returns to the beginning form page again. It was working fine before. I made a few changes, but nothing major...

First I thought, maybe it's a syntax error in some of my form process code. So I made some changes in it, like redirecting to Google.com at the beginning of the code, but that doesn't even execute...Weird! Also, I remember that when working on this form before, a syntax error in the form process code will cause the form processing to simply bypass all of that code and go straight to the 'success' page.

So what can it be??? I try changing out the image submit button with another, basic submit button. No change.

I wonder if maybe I made some changes to the core RSForm processing code before that may have conflicted with recent changes. I didn't remember actually changing any of the core RSForm code but I do remember looking at it. So I start to get out my ExamDiff tool and check the code against the installation version. But then I remember that I could test that just by checking the other RSForm form that I have on this site. I check it and it works fine...

Ok, this is weird. None of the 'processing' stuff is happening at all. It's just returning to the form, acting like there's a required field missing. But all the fields are filled out and there are no error messages....Hey, wait a minute! I think that's it!!!

I had removed a required field from the form layout completely. But I did not remove it from the form Components list. Sure enough, switching this field's Required? parameter from yes to no, fixed the form! Yes!

Why didn't I think of that before?
