There are many things you can do to improve your Google Page Rank. Here are a few of the most effective measures.
CONTENT
In business, the key to success is Location, Location, Location. But on the web, it's all about Content, Content, Content! The importance of your website is evaluated by the amount and quality of relevant content. This is by far the most important factor in Page Rank.
When people search the web, they're usually looking for informaion. So Google likes to find good information and offer it to those who are seeking. If you give answers to questions about your area of business, your information will be sought out. So write lots of articles and FAQs about your area of expertise.
If you're a Chiropractor, type up some information about when and why adjustments are necessary. Let people know how to tell if they have a pinched nerve in their spine. Be sure to include a healthy amount of relevant keywords that people may be searching for. Obscure information is also good, because it's less likely to be found on other sites. The more information, the better. You should continually add new content, to keep your site fresh and to let Google know you're an active site. So keep writing!
LINKS
Another important factor in your site rank is the number and quality of links to your website. The two main categories of links are back links and cross links. Back links (or external links) come from outside websites. Cross links (or internal links) come from another page on your own site.
Back Links
Ask all your friends who have websites (or even MySpace pages) to place a link to your site on theirs. Links from sites with a strong page rank are better. If you are affiliated with any businesses, send them an email and ask them to link to your site. Offer to 'Swap Links' by also adding a link to their site on yours. You can even search the web for small companies whose business is related (but not competitive) with yours. Then email these people and ask to swap links. Small companies are more likely to comply than large ones. They are also trying to improve their site rank, so they have something to gain in the process. Point this out in your request. It never hurts to ask.
Cross Links
Every time you include an informational term that is defined or discussed elsewhere on your site, include a link to that page.
This helps your users find more info on related items, and also gives google more valuable pages and links to index.
TRAFFIC
For Google, more website traffic equals more relevance. They figure (correctly) that if you are a major player, you deserve a higher spot on the search results page. So you need to become a major player on the web. This, of course, will require several key strategies, including a good website marketing plan, writing useful industry-relevant content and providing users with a pain-free, aesthetic web experience.
