FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. This is the method used to upload files to your web server. The web server is the computer that your web host uses to store the files that make up your website. When we are building a website, we log in to the web server and upload the new files.
The FTP information is provided by your web host. Usually, it is sent in the welcome email when you open your hosting account. With some hosts, you have to create your own FTP account using the web host control panel.
FTP information consists of 3 items: FTP Address/Host Name, Username and Password. Often, the Host Name is the same as the domain, such as www.mywebsitename.com.
Candyweb will often ask you for FTP information so that we can work on your site. It can be obtained through your web hosting company.
